Evans Albert Spear
Evans Spear died of Hodgkins Lymphoma on May 24th of 2004 after a long and courageous battle. He was an All-American lacrosse player and an All-State hockey player.
The Battle of the Bay Triathlon is an annual event which takes place in August to benefit the Evans Albert Spear Memorial Scholarship Fund, which was founded in May 2004.
Memorial Scholarship Fund
We'd like to congratulate Michael Smith, recipient of the Evans Albert Spear Memorial Scholarship for 2013!
Michael is the son of Gary and Judiann Smith. Mike has played baseball and soccer all four years along with Nordic skiing. He was a member of BOLD, Global Action, GVS, and Student Senate Mike was a recipient of the Williams Book Award and is a National Merit Commended Scholar. He will be attending Fairfield University in the fall where he will likely study Chemistry.
The objective of the Evans Albert Spear Memorial Scholarship Fund is to provide an opportunity for a gifted individual in need of financial help to obtain a significant cash scholarship in their senior year of high school to be used to continue their education.
The ultimate goal of this fund is to build an Evans Albert Spear House which will provide support for cancer patients between ages 17-25. The yearly scholarship award is expected to be highly competitive, thus potential recipients will reflect the very best that Yarmouth High School has to offer.
Evans Spear Memorial Hockey Tournament

Join us for the first annual Evans Spear Memorial Hockey event at the Family Ice Center in Falmouth!
Work off your turkey with 2 hours of fun round-robin style hockey and invite your family and friends to come watch! There will be a culmination pizza party in the pond house at Family Ice following the games. Pizza will be provided, but please bring your own snacks and BYOB. We hope this will be the first of many hockey events for the Evans Spear Memorial Fund. Look for future events on our Facebook page.
Sign up soon to guarantee a spot - the recommended donation for this event is $40. Your sign up includes hockey fun, a practice jersey (yours for the keeping), and post hockey pizza. All proceeds benefit the Evans Spear Memorial Fund, a 501(c)3.
